Tea Filter

If you want to make tea with real tea leaves, you need a couple things: the tea, a clay pot (or tea mug), and a tea filter. Tea filters are important because they let you strain the tea bags into a pot of boiling water, then remove the tea leaves when the tea is finishes steeping. There are different kinds of tea filters however. One popular option is tea filter paper.

Tea filter paper is a popular alternative to the tea filter. Tea filters are usually cylindrical meshes that you fill with tea leaves. You then place the tea filter in a mug or tea pot and add hot water. When the tea is brewed, you remove the filter and only the tea is left. This is a far better way to brew tea than just adding in the tea leaves into a tea pot and leaving them. If you leave tea leaves in the tea pot for too long, the tea can become too strong and can start to become bitter.

Another way to brew tea is to use tea filter paper. This is basically special water permeable paper that you can “strain” the hot water though, much like a coffee maker does with coffee. What you do is boil a pot of hot water then place the tea filter paper over a mug. The paper usually has an indent in it to form a sort of funnel. They are often perfectly suited to fitting inside of the mug. You then add the tea into the tea filter paper then pour in hot water. You let the tea leaves steep for several minutes, and then you pull out the tea paper, bringing the expanded tea leaves with them. Perfectly done tea is left behind!

Now some tea purists don’t like the idea of tea filter paper. The traditional way of brewing tea involves warming up both mugs and tea put, then putting the tea leaves into the tea pot which contains water heated at just the precise temperature. You then begin brewing the tea. Tea filter paper changes the way you make tea. Personally, I have found very little difference between tea brewed with tea filter paper and tea brewed with a tea filter – but the choice is up to you.
